About
After receiving a degree in graphic design and in animation, Michael started his career in graphic design at Orbital Technologies. He worked there for about five years. There he started modeling and animating in 3d for online training simulations. After the first
year he was able to develop his skills by doing concept art and 3d modeling on simulations and architectural fly-throughs. When he
became lead graphic designer he worked on web interfaces and designs for the trainers and other simulations. At Orbital Technologies
he helped create web based trainers for some divisions of NASA and the military. These trainers were usually hardware based learning simulations where a person could get familiar with a piece of hardware before using it or as a refresher. These simulations would either
be procedural, more of a step by step, or event based, where based on what the user picked other things would happen. Through these projects he developed skills in creating interactive simulations content and storyboard, creating user interfaces and web sites, learning
new software to create elements in the projects to meet and exceed the client's needs, learning new scripting languages, and creatively working out problems.
Seeing a need for web designers, he decided to start doing freelance work as Screaming Paints. Once started he took on various
work through. Starting last year he taught full time in the Animation Program at Madison Area Technical College. There he was teaching others how to build models using 3ds Max, Photoshop, and After Effects. Through his teaching he was able to build up his skill sets that
he was teaching the students. He was in charge of teaching 4 classes a semester and helped to create the training material, examples,
and work close with the students when problems occurred. He is now currently teaching part time at Madison Area College and continues working freelance.
